NOTICE OF RACE & SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Rules:
The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (2005 - 2008), the prescriptions of US Sailing, each participating boat's Official Class Rules, and by these sailing instructions.
2. Entries: The Skippers (Helmsmen) must be members of the Corinthian Sailing Club or White Rock Boat Club. The regatta is a Portsmouth event. This regatta is open to all classes that participate in regular Saturday racing organized by the White Rock Boat Club, or Sunday racing organized by the Corinthian Sailing Club.  Current racing classes are Butterfly, Corinthian, Sunfish, Snipe, Laser, Laser Radial, Lightning, Flying Scot and V15.
3. Notice to Competitors: Notices to competitors will be posted on the official regatta notice board located at the Corinthian Sailing Club clubhouse.
4. Changes in Sailing Instructions: Any change in the sailing instructions will be posted 30 minutes before the warning signal of the first race.
5. Signals Made Ashore:
5.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed from the CSC flagpole.
5.2 Code flag "AP" Answering Pendant, with two horns, (one horn when lowered) means "The race is postponed".     The time for the new warning signal will be posted on the notice board as the "AP" is lowered.

7. Courses: The courses described in the Sunday Joint Sailing Instructions will be used. A copy is posted on the official notice board. Only one course will be signaled for all.
    7.1 If a Windward Leeward "W" course is used, a small white offset mark will be used.
    7.2 If a Windward Leeward "W" course is used, a leeward gate will be placed to     weather of the starting line. Competitors must enter the leeward gate and round from inside to out.
8. Marks: Marks will be orange spheroids about 3 feet in diameter. A change mark will be an orange spheroid about 3 feet in diameter with a black band.
9. The Start: Races will be started in accordance with racing rule 26.
9.1 Example of starting sequence (The official starting order will be posted before the skippers meeting).
        First Start - Numeral Pennant 1: Butterfly, Corinthian, Laser Radial and Sunfish
        Second Start - Numeral Pennant 2: Snipe and Laser
        Third Start - Numeral Pennant 3: Lightning and Flying Scot
10. Individual Recall: Individual recalls will be signaled in accordance with RRS 29.1. In addition the Race Committee will hail the number of the boat(s) over early.
11. Changing the Course after the Start: A change of course after the start will be signaled before the leading boat has begun the leg, although the new mark may not then be in position.  When in a subsequent change of course a new mark is replaced it will be replaced with an original mark.
12. The Finish: The finishing line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on a race committee boat and the adjacent mark.
13. Time Limit: No time limit.
14. Protests: Protests shall be written on forms available at the Corinthian Sailing Club and lodged there within 30 minutes of the docking of the committee boat, after the last race.
15. Scoring: The most recent and available Table of American Portsmouth Numbers will be used to calculate each boats corrected time.  The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A of the racing rules, shall be used. All races shall be counted (no throw out). If fewer than the scheduled races are sailed, due to any reason, then the completed races shall constitute a regatta. 
        15.1 The Flying Scot and Lightning fleets will use the same Portsmouth number for the Flying Scot.
16. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the helmsmen and crews for the top 3 places. The Lake Championship Trophy will awarded.  The Maurice Martin Perpetual trophy will be awarded to the top CSC helmsman at the CSC awards banquet.
17. Entry Fee: There is no fee charged for this regatta.
