Adult Members Sailing Lessons

Adult Sailing Classes for 2017 now available!

The Corinthian Sailing Club is an all-volunteer club, and all boats are privately owned. Therefore, we are not in a position to offer sailing classes to the general public. However, each spring, we offer adult “learn to sail” courses for regular or associate club members*. A course costs $50, and includes the Learn to Sail textbook plus six class sessions. Training is typically in Flying Scots, Corinthians, and Snipes.

Points to be covered include seamanship, leaving the pier, sailing upwind and on other points of sail, tacking, jibing, returning to pier, rules of the road and basic knots. The sessions will be on the water as long as the weather cooperates. There will be 2 or 3 students and an instructor per boat. Each class will be limited to 15 students.

For 2017, the first course will start May 2 and a second course will start June 6. Each course will run three weeks with class sessions from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

CSC members* wishing to take this course must email Ellen Bryant to sign up. Classes will fill fast, so register now!

Other potential avenues for private classes include:

Club membership is open to persons of age 18 or older.

Women On the Water

The 2017 Women on the Water program at CSC is having an organizational meeting Wednesday, April 26th, at 7pm at the clubhouse.

All CSC women sailors, and want to be sailors, are invited to come find out about a great program for the women at our club.  This year we plan to add classes for women who are racing or want to race.

We will be sailing the second and fourth Friday evenings starting May 26nd thru September 8th. This year we plan to sail in Flying Scots, Butterflys, Snipes and Corinthians.  Our goal is to get more women sailing and racing.

It is a great way to become more comfortable in your boat and enjoy meeting other women in the club.
