On May 30, 2014, Senior Corporal John Robinson, #8953, was taken to the emergency room at Baylor in Dallas when he began to have trouble speaking on his lunch break at work. A Computed Tomography (CT) scan at the emergency room showed a mass on the left side of his brain. After undergoing surgery for a brain biopsy we learned on June 6, 2014, that Senior Corporal Robinson was diagnosed with a Grade IV Glioblastoma brain tumor. On June 19, 2014, Senior Corporal Robinson underwent a 6 hour awake craniotomy operation to remove the entire visible portion of the tumor and left John with only a slight speech deficit which will likely recover in time. Senior Corporal Robinson is recovering from surgery and his speech is getting better each day. He will shortly begin radiation treatment for 6 weeks, 5 days a week, in conjunction with chemotherapy and then continued chemotherapy. Senior Corporal Robinson is presently assigned to the Internal Affairs Division. His prior assignment was at the Northeast Division. He is the husband of Northeast Division Neighborhood Police Officer Katie Robinson, #10007.
