ISSA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP

NOTICE OF RACE
RULES
The regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 ISAF Racing Rules, the prescriptions
of US SAILING, the Notice of Race published for this elimination (except where
modified by the Sailing Instructions), the ISSA Procedural Rules, and the sailing instructions.

BOATS
Laser/Laser Radial Divisions. Competitors must bring their own boats, rigs, sails, etc.

As many races as possible will be attempted weather permitting. Expect short collegiate style courses.

Galveston Bay near the Houston Yacht Club

ELIGIBILITY
All competitors must attend a high school that is a current member of the ISSA/SEISA. School membership is renewed at the beginning of each academic school year. To become a member of the ISSA/SEISA go to www.highschoolsailingusa.org to register on-line. A membership fee of $100 is required ($75 to ISSA/$25 to SEISA). LUNCH
Bring your own lunch. Water will be supplied by the R/C throughout the day.

COACHING
Unless it is with the permission of the Race Committee, team leaders, coaches and
other support personnel shall not go afloat in the racing area. The penalty
for failing to comply with this requirement may be the disqualification of all yachts
associated with infringing support personnel.
Competitors may receive coaching including instructions, assistance, or equipment assistance only while on the dock, rigging area at HYC or from the North Jetty. There shall be no coaching during the races.
Competitors shall not communicate with a coach before reporting to the Race
Committee an intent to file a protest.
An infringement of these rules of paragraph 17 during a race shall subject a
competitor to disqualification per ISSA Procedural Rules.

PRIZES
Prizes for 1-3 in each division will be awarded. The 1st place winner of the Full Rig Division and the 1st place winner of the Radial Rig Division will advance to the Cressy Finals, November 25-27, 2005 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

OFFICIAL NOTICE FOR ALL CRESSY PARTICIPANTS:
No contestant shall use, either on or off the water, alcoholic beverages (beer, wine,
distilled spirits), or use any controlled substance (marijuana, cocaine, etc.), the
possession of which is unlawful. Infringements of this regulation and/or other off water discipline expectations occurring during October 14-16, 2005 may be the
basis for disciplinary action. Discipline problems and this regulation's enforcement
will be handled promptly by an adult Discipline Hearing Board which will consist of
three adult members; the Regatta Chairperson, Board of Directors and the Chief
Judge. Said Board shall at a time and method selected by them meet to hear said
problem and their decision to impose scoring penalties, or other sanctions they alone
deem appropriate, including summary removal from the entire regatta, shall be
final without appeal permitted.
