Re: Revised Circuit Conditions and Regatta Forms

The TSA Junior Circuit documentation has been revised and is available to download from the TSA website here:

In planning your club's regatta you should use these revised standard forms for your NOR, SI's, Registration, and Medical Release, filling in the blanks as necessary to meet your local circumstances. The revised Circuit Conditions apply at all TSA Youth Regattas and are incorporated by reference into the standard NOR and SI forms. The Regatta Guidelines should be consulted by your Regatta Chairman and PRO and followed to the extent possible considering your local conditions. Copies of the Circuit Conditions should be made available, together with the SI's, at your regatta.

The changes made to the forms are to reflect the decisions of the Youth Committee at its Annual Meeting in October at TCYC and to conform the forms to current US Sailing standards.

One important change you will note in the revised Circuit Conditions, which is also be reflected in the new standard NOR and SI's, is the opening of the Laser Full Rig class to sailors of any age and the 420 class to sailors up through age 22 (the max age by class rules). Juniors under 20 racing in those two classes will still be separately scored for purposes of the Texas Youth Circuit. The hope is that by lifting the age cap to enter for the Full Rig's and 420's that we will increase participation and competition for these two fleets at TSA Youth Circuit events. The under 20 age limit will still apply to the Laser Radial and the Sunfish classes and, of course, the Optimist class age rules will still apply to that fleet.

Please spread the word among your adult Laser Full Rig sailors and older 420 sailors that your Youth regatta is open for their participation.

The dates and venues for various Youth Championship Regattas, including the Area F Qualifiers for the Smythe, Bemis and Sears are set forth in the Youth Championship schedule which is posted here: . However, note that the Area F Qualifier for the Smythe/Bemis will be hosted by TCYC on July 29-30, with the Finals also at TCYC on August 7-11, 2006.

The "Texas Junior Laser Championship" will again be held this year as part of the AYC Roadrunner Regatta.

LYC will also be hosting a 420 clinic on a date TBA, but tentatively set for May 31-June 2. Further details will be forthcoming.

The Optimist Nationals will be at Sarasota Sailing Squadron on July 23-28, 2005

For Laser sailors the Gulf Coast Champs will be at TCYC on June 10-11 and the Laser U.S. Nationals will be at CCYC on June 15-18. Also, the Sunfish Nationals will be at RCYC June 18-23. (I have heard that there will be a Junior Sunfish Championship as part of the Nationals on June 18 - but check the championship page for further details and to confirm)
